The Secret Garden Book Project

The secret Garden Book Project

Jamie Gordon and Leah Gray from Leith Primary School enjoy their free books.

In August 2010 the Festival Theatre launched an exciting new education project to coincide with The Secret Garden musical. 10,000 free copies of the Penguin Classics edition of the novel were printed and distributed to every Primary 7 class in Edinburgh and the Lothians, along with detailed online learning resources. Using The Secret Garden novel as a source material, the project provides opportunities for study across the Curriculum for Excellence including Languages and Literacy, Sciences, Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education and the Expressive Arts. This project was made possible by the kind support of Cruden Foundation Ltd. and The Binks Trust, with a special thanks going to Carolyn Smith at Penguin Books.
